The Weskus Lighuis MCC will be doing a Prayer Run from the 9th to the 19th of August 2010. We are part of the West Coast Motorbike Association and have their full support and backing, thanks to the chairman Jan Truter. Our club belongs to the AGS church in Vredenburg and we serve as a ministry tool to all bikers. Our facilities are at their disposal and where ever we can serve we are ready and able to be of assistance. We also have a very good relationship with the other clubs in the West Coast. As a club we decided to do something different in serving our beautiful country and doing it in a way we would really enjoy it, BIKING. So in next to no time we decided to get things moving and not wait for next year or just talk about it - our Country needs men and woman who will get up and be doers not just talkers or moaners for that matter. A word of thanks to Thomas Ashbury who done the layout of the route and a lot of the behind the scene work. Also for his enthusiasm and dedication to the work of the Lord. Now I know from experience that bikers are a breed of doers, they like a challenge, to be and do what others are still only dreaming about. They do not understand the words ‘can’t be done’ or ‘never been done before’. Try telling them it is cold or wet when there is a Run or a Rally; Try telling them it is still winter when the open road beckons them to join her straights and curves, her passes and her climbs. What a privilege to be part of a people who have it within them to stretch the boundaries of man and societies thinking and endeavors’. A people who can make others just stop for a moment, make them look twice, think again and realize that there is more to life than our sometime mundane way of living. Back to the Prayer Run 2010, this will take us along the borders of South Africa. We will be starting at Saldanha Bay going clock wise up to Springbok, Kuruman, Thabazimbi, Musina, Nelspruit, Durban, East London, Hartenbos and back to Saldanha Bay via Cape Town. The route is about 5500km and we have worked in an extra day just in case we need a day of resus. As we do this Prayer Run our church the Weskus Lighuis AGS will be doing a ten day prayer and fasting time in support of this endeavor as together we pray for our country. We too will take to the streets but with a difference, we will do it with the roar of motorbikes and the sound of voices of prayer. May this route be symbolic of new ways and avenues we as a country can take, may it encourage others to arise and fulfill their destiny. Due to costs and time away from home and work we will only be about 10 people, 6 bikes doing the route while the majority will stay home and be part in support and prayer. My name is Errol le Roux minister at the Weskus Lighuis church and president of our club. If there are any other bikers clubs who would like to join us for a few km or who would like to assist us along the way, or even churches who would like to pray with us please contact me for further information as well as approximate times we will be passing through your area at: 0842056944 or 022 7134360 or email me at

. May this grow to become something that brings change and hope as I believe that we all can make a difference regardless of how big or small we think our calling is. Regards and safe riding, Errol. |
